At Pullman we acknowledge this is Wardandi country and we pay our respects to the elders past and present.

The Wardandi (also known as Wadandi) have protected the waterways, streams, caves and rivers in this region for over 45,000 years.

The traditional name for Bunker Bay is Jingii - a place where the regional family groups would gather during the season of Djeran (April & May) when the cooler weather begins and the salmon season would provide plentiful food for their coupling celebrations. Fresh water was supplied through a natural spring on the Sugarloaf Rock ridge and mia mias (shelters) would be built by the women near the lake adjacent to this property while the men hunted and gathered for the celebrations.

Today, conference guests are able to enjoy ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremonies and cultural awareness sessions with Wardandi elders. Please speak to our events team for more details.
